Back from Comic Con and slowly working my way through my list of commissions. This week, I started with a commission that needs some special attention - a tattoo. Not only a tattoo, but a MONSTER TATTOO! I’ve done several tattoos in my career and since the canvas is so important, I try to spend as much time as possible getting it right.
The person who ordered had contacted me about 2 years prior with the idea for a monster-themed tattoo, but for reasons out of his control, had to take a raincheck. He contacted me a few weeks ago saying he was ready to get inked and so the process began. I did a few sketches of the sleeve and it was pretty obvious he wanted less emphasis on the monsters and more on the environment. We finally settled on the last drawing and the drawing is already in the flat color stage. I plan on adding all the other details today. Stay tuned for that final image in just a little bit.
